How to Use a TrainingPeaks Training Plan

TrainingPeaks offers a powerful, versatile and easy to use resource for endurance athletes, whether your favourite sport is trail running, mountain running, triathlon or anything else. But, if you’ve never seen the platform before, you may be wondering how to use a TrainingPeaks training plan and how to make the most of the website’s resources. Here’s a quick intro guide which assumes you’re purchasing one of our plans - either directly from this page, or from TP’s own training plans catalogue.

First step: Before doing anything else, you’ll need to create an account if you don’t already have one.

1. Purchase the plan: First, you'll need to purchase the training plan from TrainingPeaks. You can find your plan from our on-site catalogue here, or from the TrainingPeaks landing page.

Once you click on “Buy Now” you should already be logged in and ready to make payment on the following page:

When you’ve entered your payment information, you’ll get the option to consent to being contacted by us via email for a follow-up.

2. Apply the plan

TrainingPeaks then offers you the option of choosing your start date then and there, so your plan can be added to your account immediately:

3. Personalise your account. If this is your first time using TrainingPeaks, you’ll be asked to personalise your profile after you first log in. You may have done this before you bought your training plan, or you can do it after you click on “Take Me To TrainingPeaks.”

Follow the steps to add your personal information, which will help you track your body and performance metrics over time.

4. Start training: Nothing could be easier! TrainingPeaks will populate your training plan onto your account, so you can see it right away. Here’s what a sample week looks like once the plan’s been applied (Get access to this by clicking on the “Calendar” tab at the top of your account page"):

What If You Skipped the Step “Apply Your Training Plan” at Purchase?

Not to worry! If you want to add your training plan to your TrainingPeaks account later on, you can always do it from the Calendar view. You’ll find all training plans purchased against your account under the training icon at the left of the screen:
