Mountain running plans

These plans are designed for runners training for hilly, technical races, mostly on mountainous terrain. They are built for TrainingPeaks and include structured workouts that sync effortlessly to your running watch, as well as bonus resources to prepare for your race, cross-training suggestions, and more.

mountain ultra - 100 miles

A dedicated 23-week plan to prepare for a mountain ultra of 100 miles.

Features a structure of 3 build weeks followed by a recovery week, moving to 2 build weeks followed by a recovery week as training intensifies. Finishes with a 3-week taper.

Complimentary strength & conditioning plan, as well as race day advice, included throughout.

mountain half marathon up to 30km

12-week training plan tailored for the unique demands of a mountain half marathon & up to 30 km race distance.

Suits experienced trail runners taking on races with more climbing and descending or technical trails.

Includes 2 or 3 build weeks followed by a recovery week, and a 2-week taper. Features a progressive strength & conditioning plan and race day advice.

5o miles to 100 km advanced plan

An 18-week training plan created for advanced level trail runners preparing for a mountain ultra of 50 miles to 100 km in distance.

Features 3 build weeks followed by a recovery week, and a 3-week taper. Optional harder or easier workouts depending on your race goal.

Race day advice and strength & conditioning plan included.

Trail running plans

Trail running training plans for those looking to compete in a range of off-road running events, from half marathons to ultra distances. They are built for TrainingPeaks and include structured workouts that sync effortlessly to your running watch, as well as bonus resources to prepare for your race, cross-training suggestions, and more.

trail half marathon to 30km distance

12-week training plan for the half marathon to 30km distance on trails.

Featuring 2 or 3 build weeks followed by a recovery week and a 2-week taper.

For athletes who are comfortable running for c. 2 hours. Great if transitioning from road half and full marathons to trails.

trail marathon to 50km distance

8-week training plan for those looking to complete a trail marathon or up to 50km ultra marathon.

Featuring 2 or 3 build weeks followed by a recovery week and a 2-week taper.

For experienced road runners transitioning to trail running, or for those moving up in distance from the marathon to 30 miles / 50 km.

trail half marathon to 30km - shorter

A trail half marathon / 30 km training plan over only 8 weeks.

Featuring 2 or 3 build weeks, one recovery week after each, and a 2-week taper.

This suits those transitioning from road to trails but looking for specific off road workouts, with less time to train than for the 12-week plan.

extreme triathlon plans

Train for the toughest triathlons on the planet, including the X-Tri World Series (Celtman, Swissman, Swedeman, Norseman etc.), with dedicated half and “iron” distance training plans that include race day advice and special consideration for the tougher terrain on the bike and run.

Extreme triathlon iron distance

An “iron” distance triathlon training plan over 24 weeks, taking into account the tougher bike and run terrains typical to extreme events.

Extreme triathlon training plan for events at the half “iron” or 70.3 distances. Accounts for open water swimming and challenging bike and run conditions.

Train for the “iron” distance extreme triathlon of your choice, during 24 weeks, with added strength & conditioning training plans.
